Wow it was tough……I thought I was an expert but my overconfidence was nearly my undoing.

Emaginonline is has now received recognition for its work with Google Analytics. Although this is a free product offered by google to website owners, do not underestimate the power of this tool. If you don’t have it why not?

ITS FREE AND YOU GET AN UNBELIEVABLE AMOUNT OF VALUE.

There are literally hundreds of sites singing Google Analytics praises so I don’t need to but I am genuinely surprised at how many site owners dont see any flavour of web analytics on their website. So please help yourself and get this working for you.

The second big surprise is that those who have analytics don’t leverage the power of the tool to get actionable insights. In manay cases analytics is seen as an “IT thing” so the marketing guys don’t need to learn how to use. So guess what happens: the tech guy gives marketing the data they think is useful and that normally means pre-configured reports.

Pre-configured reports are good but that is only the starting point of your journey to a new world. Marketers got to take the plunge and get their hands dirty. All I can say is that it will be worth it.

All the campaigns and solutions built by Emaginonline use Google Analytics (”GA”). “Yeah so what!” I can hear some web designer saying. “Its just a cut and paste install.”

Agreed. It is but an experienced analyst knows that how data is collected and what data is collected has a considerable impact on the findings. A simple example is filters. One client had GA installed but I noticed that no filters were setup. As a result all internal users were counted as web visitors and their site behaviour was mixed with that of real customers.

Suffice it to say that if you cut and paste the installation code ONLY you have missed the boat. Do it properly or dont’t do it all.
